The Allergy Diagnostic and Therapeutic Centre

The Allergy Diagnostic and Therapeutic Centre

A new private allergy investigation and treatment service has been
established in Dublin. The aim of the service is to:

* Diagnose and treat patients with allergic diseases
* Act as information, education and advice resource for allergic
disorders
* Foster scientific research in allergy

The service is led by Clinical Director Dr. Mohamed Abuzakouk, Lecturer in
Clinical Immunology and Allergy, Immunology Department, St. James's Hospital
and Trinity College. Clinical Associate is Professor Con Feighery, Professor
of Immunology, TCD and Head of Immunology Department, St. James's Hospital
and Scientific Associate Dr. John Jackson, Senior Lecturer in Immunology,
TCD and Chief Medical Scientist, St. James's Hospital.

The service will treat patients with common allergic disorders including:

* Urticaria (hives) and Angioedema
* Latex Allergy
* Food Allergy and Intolerance
* Wasp and Bee Sting Allergy
* Nasal Allergies
* Eye Allergy
* Anaphylaxis
* Drug Allergy

Patients with conditions such as Migraine, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.)
and Chronic Systemic Candidiasis Syndrome in which allergy can sometimes be
implicated, may also be referred.

The clinic will be held weekly on Tuesday afternoons, Thursday and Saturday
morning. Referral letters will be dealt with promptly and patients will be
contacted directly with appointments.
Research associated with the allergy service will be carried out in the
Immunology Department, St. James's Hospital, Dublin 8. Further information
