Travelling for Treatment
We at the Irish ME Trust are of the opinion that there is a need for a specialised clinic to be set up in Ireland. This opinion is further documented elsewhere on this website. Should such a clinic be established under the auspices of the Department of Health, it is more than likely to primarily focus on treatments which are championed by the psychiatric lobby, namely Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Graded Exercise Programs.
We therefore believe that there is a need to explore other avenues for treatment and to examine what is being tested for and what treatments are on offer in clinics throughout Europe. This can only be done with objective individual assessment by people who have ventured to these clinics for treatment. The negative side of this is that the treatment available is often expensive and out of reach of a lot of sufferers. The travel and possible accommodation costs need to be also taken into account.
Nevertheless, we expect this portion of our website to be added to over time.
It should be noted here that information relating to these clinics are purely for informational purposes only and should in no way be taken as an indication of endorsement by the Irish ME Trust of any or all of these clinics or the principles and procedures adhered to by such clinics.
